Section 24, Canon III

SECTION 24. Active involvement in legal education. – A lawyer shall keep abreast of legal developments, participate in continuing legal education programs, and support efforts to achieve standards of excellence in law schools as well as in the practical training of law students.
In addition, a lawyer shall assist the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), law schools, law alumni associations, law associations, or civic organizations, in educating the public on the law and jurisprudence.
The IBP Chapters shall provide supervising lawyers to the legal aid clinics in their jurisdiction. (2023 Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability or CPRA)

1. Active involvement in legal education

a. Duties to legal education

Under this section, lawyers have the following duties:

1) To keep abreast of legal developments;

2) To participate in continuing legal education programs;

3) To support efforts to achieve standards of excellence in law schools; and

4) To educate the public on the law and jurisprudence.

b. IBP Chapters provide supervising lawyers

Under this section, IBP Chapters are mandated to “provide supervising lawyers to the legal aid clinics in their jurisdiction.”
